Objects from the architectural and archaeological collection
The architectural and archaeological collection numbers 100,000 items, including building materials and architectural tools, details of constructions belonging to the 11th - 17th centuries, numerous fragments of frescos, mosaics and other artistic works from Novgorod, Smolensk, Polotsk, Vladimir and Kiev. The larger part of the collection consists of objects passed over to the museum as a result of research work carried out on Novgorod architectural monuments.

Especially remarkable is the unique collection accumulated by the well-known researcher M. Carger, collections of the St. Petersburg division of the State History Institute, and the newly formed collection of fresco compositions (14th century) from the Church of the Transfiguration of Our Savior in Kovalevo, restored by A. Grekov and V. Grekov.
